John 11 - specifically,:21-44
We believe that God
can work in our lives, but how often do we expect Him to? He can raise
the dead by speaking their name..yet we struggle to have faith that he
can raise the spiritually dead... or at least I do.
"Lord, the
one you love is sick"// "Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if
you believe, you will see the glory of God?”//"Then Jesus looked up and
said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you
always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing
here, that they may believe that you sent me.” << Shouldn't our
prayers be something like this? "Lord, the one you love is sick - Thank
you for always hearing me, I believe you can raise the dead." and then
to proclaim His praise when He DOES, so that "they" may believe when
they see what God has done! "Jesus wept." He WEPT over Lazarus. He grieves over his children who are lost, just as we grieve over loved ones we've lost - whether by physical, or spiritual death - and how much more does their Creator love them than we ever possible could??
This just really hit me
- there are SO many people on my heart that the Lord needs to "raise"
from spiritual death..and I believe that He can...but I often don't pray
with the expectation that He WILL.
Lord - there are those whom
you love in our lives that are sick. I believe that you can raise them,
that you WANT to raise them, I ask that you speak their names as you
spoke to Lazarus and bring them back to life in Your Spirit. Thank you
for hearing our prayers for these people, for Your glory Lord, bring to
life those who are "sleeping"..
sanctified by truth
"My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified." John 17:15-19

My body can no longer tolerate dairy so my brother devouring ice cream in front of me is near torture. But I will gladly dig into this beauty with some sea salt!
