Holiday Decor on a Budget

I.Love.Pine cones.

And I don't want to spend money on them at the store, I find it a bit ridiculous.

So, the baby girl and I went for a walk earlier this fall the park and there it was. The perfect pine cone..accompanied by all its perfect pine cone friends. So we gathered up a (whole) lotta them and brought them home to use as fall decor.

Then it came time to get out the Christmas decor and an idea hit me - why not make some of our (many, many) pine cones WINTER pine cones??

Here's what you need:
pine cones
white craft paint
clear (or white) glitter
glue
paint brush(es)

Just dot each petal with the white paint and let dry completely. Then, paint each with glue and roll in glitter (I poured mine out on a plate) and let them dry again. Thats it! Make ornaments by adding ribbon or fill a hurricane or bowl or..let your imagination run wild!

I agree - why buy when there are so many fabulous ones outside. They are great to decorate with and I like the way you added the "snow".
